Employee training becomes difficult when a course catalog grows faster than the rules governing it. A new starter needs a specific onboarding path, a manager needs to know who is overdue, and an employee changing roles may need different certifications without losing past completion records. An LMS should make these relationships manageable.
TalentLMS, Moodle Workplace, Docebo, 360Learning, and LearnUpon approach workplace learning with different emphases on administration, organizational structure, collaboration, and managed services. This comparison focuses on internal employee training rather than selling courses to an audience. Official sources were checked on October 18, 2026; no learning-outcome improvement is presented as independently measured.
Start with the training lifecycle
Map onboarding, role changes, recurring certification, and departure before comparing course players. Decide which system owns the employee record, who assigns training, who approves course changes, and how completion evidence must be retained. A large course library cannot compensate for assignments sent to the wrong people.
Our HR management comparison addresses the employee system that may feed the LMS. Confirm how that integration handles changes in manager, department, location, and employment status rather than treating a connector logo as a complete workflow.

TalentLMS
TalentLMS offers a managed learning platform with course delivery, learning paths, reporting, and administrative features. Branches can create separate training environments for different groups. It is a useful shortlist candidate when the organization wants to organize employee training without running the application infrastructure itself.
The current pricing page separates Core, Grow, Pro, and Enterprise, with user bands and monthly or annual billing. USD is explicitly stated. A flexible user-limit option measures unique monthly logins and is not the same as treating every registered employee as billable under every plan. Check which approach applies to the selected subscription and how additional users are charged.
Course libraries and AI capabilities also require attention. TalentCraft allowances differ by plan, and some promotional features may move to a higher tier later. Do not make a temporary inclusion a permanent purchasing assumption. The advantage is an accessible managed starting point; the limitation is ensuring the required branches, paths, integrations, content, and credits fit the actual package. Trial a role change and an overdue assignment with a manager who will use the reports.
Moodle Workplace
Moodle Workplace adds corporate learning structures around programs, certifications, organizational roles, dynamic rules, and multi-tenancy. Its current documentation describes recurring certifications with validity periods and separate tenant environments for divisions or departments. These features make it relevant when learning administration must reflect a complicated organization.
Workplace should not be confused with the open-source Moodle LMS download. Moodle’s official product FAQ describes Workplace as licensed software supplied through its provider network, with pricing based on hosting and services. Do not assume that an existing Moodle LMS installation grants Workplace rights or that a generic Moodle hosting plan includes its enterprise features.
The strength is structured administration and scope for adapting the learning environment. The tradeoff is defining the provider agreement, configuration, integrations, upgrade responsibility, and ongoing support. Request the license, hosting location, services, term, and currency as one scoped proposal. In a pilot, move a learner between departments, retain completion history, and trigger a recurring certification. Verify which reports a local manager can see without exposing unrelated tenant information.
Docebo
Docebo presents a broader learning platform spanning delivery, personalization, reporting, content creation, and integrations. It suits an organization considering multiple learning audiences or a more extensive learning program. The useful question is which capabilities solve the current employee-training requirement and which represent a later expansion.
Current pricing distinguishes Elevate and Enterprise, with custom proposals. The page lists differences in included integrations, domains, environments, mobile branding, and API access. Some content, communities, analytics, and other capabilities are add-ons, while AI creation and roleplay use credits. A product demonstration may therefore show more than the proposed base package includes.
The advantage is broad platform scope. The limitation is commercial and implementation complexity if the team buys more than it can operate. Ask how yearly active users are defined, which integrations are included, and how content subscriptions or AI usage affect renewal. Have the vendor demonstrate an actual HR-driven assignment and a completion export. Confirm administrator workload as well as the learner interface; a personalized experience still needs accurate rules and maintained source data.
360Learning
360Learning emphasizes collaborative learning, including co-authoring, internal expertise, course management, and learner feedback. It is relevant when subject experts should help maintain training rather than handing all course production to one central team. AI-assisted authoring can support that process, but it does not replace review of policy or operational instructions.
The current Team plan is listed at $8 per user per month for up to 100 users. Business and Enterprise use custom pricing and can combine registered and monthly active users in a contract. The displayed dollar symbol and monthly rate alone do not establish the invoice currency, commitment, or entitlements for a larger deployment; confirm those terms in the proposal.
The strength is connecting expertise with learning production. The tradeoff is maintaining review ownership as more contributors participate. Check integration, identity, support, and analytics scope for the selected plan. During evaluation, ask an expert to draft a course, a reviewer to reject an inaccurate section, and the owner to publish a corrected version. Then verify how learners’ completion records relate to the revised content and who remains accountable for future updates.
LearnUpon
LearnUpon provides a managed learning platform with employee-focused delivery, learning journeys, reporting, and integrations. Its separate audience offerings help distinguish internal training from customer education or association learning. That is useful when the organization wants a defined employee program rather than one undifferentiated course portal for every audience.
The current pricing page lists LearnUpon for Employees from 100 users, Customer Education from 300, and Associations from 150. These are different audience starting points, not interchangeable employee-plan tiers. Pricing is quoted rather than established by a universal public per-learner amount. Confirm how user quantities, integrations, environments, and current AI capabilities enter the proposal.
The site describes implementation and ongoing support as part of its service approach. The advantage is managed delivery with an explicit implementation relationship; the limitation is evaluating the exact scope and minimum against your training volume. Ask a manager to locate overdue training and an administrator to process a departmental transfer. Verify exports, completion history, and who can modify automated journeys. A capable managed service still requires someone inside the organization to own course accuracy.
How to choose an employee LMS
Bring a representative course with a document, a short assessment, and a completion requirement. Include one employee who needs recurring certification and another who changes roles halfway through onboarding. Ask each platform to demonstrate those journeys using the proposed package. These are acceptance exercises to run, not claims that the products passed our tests.
Separate content creation from content governance. Decide who approves a lesson, how an outdated course is withdrawn, and whether employees must repeat training after a material revision. If imported course packages are important, evaluate the actual package and completion data rather than relying on format names alone.
Compare learner definitions before prices. Registered, active, monthly-login, and yearly-active measures can produce different bills for the same workforce. Add content subscriptions, integrations, AI credits, implementation, translation, and administrator effort. Record currency, taxes, annual minimums, renewals, and the treatment of inactive or departed employees.
Finally, request an exit sample containing learner identities, course versions where available, assignments, completion dates, and certificates. If the primary goal is selling lessons rather than administering employee training, our online course platform comparison addresses that separate decision. An employee LMS should be judged by reliable assignment and evidence as well as content presentation.
Selection checklist
- Demonstrate onboarding, role changes, and recurring certification.
- Check manager permissions and organizational boundaries.
- Assign authoring, review, and course-update responsibilities.
- Normalize learner definitions, integrations, content, and AI costs.
- Export usable training evidence before committing to migration.
Choose around the learning process
TalentLMS suits organized managed training, Moodle Workplace supports structured corporate administration, Docebo offers broader program scope, 360Learning centers collaborative production, and LearnUpon provides audience-specific managed learning. Choose the system your administrators and managers can keep accurate as employees, roles, and courses change.
